The Fredericksburg Jaycees have done much to help the continued growth of the City of Fredericksburg. Listed are some of the elements as to what the Jaycees have been able to contribute to the City of Fredericksburg. Most of these dates go back before some of the city leaders were residents of this great community that we all love so much.
- Donated the original Christmas lights to the City of Fredericksburg.
- Helped push the bond election that built the City of Fredericksburg swimming pool.
- Assisted with funding for the building of the old travel park and swimming pool that was located on Dr. Feller's land on Goehmann Lane.
- Sponsored Santa Clause Day since the 1940's.
- Assisted in coordinating the sale of Oak Crest Park from Gillespie County to the City of Fredericksburg, which is presently Lady Bird Park.
- Helped push the bond election to build the first 9 hole golf course at Lady Bird Park and also helped push to expand the same course to an 18 hole course.
- Assisted in requesting that the City of Fredericksburg start commercial garbage pick up.
- Assisted the City of Fredericksburg in building the RL Frantzen Park by supplying picinic tables and a swing set, for the first park within the city limits of Fredericksburg.
- Helped obtain the first travel guide for the City of Fredericksburg printed in the late 1950's through the early 1960's.
- Assisted in promoting the Easter Fires Pageant.
- The history of the Fredericksburg Jaycees is rich in working with the City of Fredericksburg since the Club's founding in April of 1940 which produced many civic and business leaders within the community.
